Welcome to North Elementary!
My name is Ben Cunningham. I am the principal here at North.
I was born, raised, and educated in Clio, Michigan. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a career in elementary education. I received my undergraduate degree from Greenville University and met my wife, Amanda, there as well. My first years of teaching were at the elementary school in Greenville. I taught fifth grade, and while teaching, obtained my master’s degree in educational administration from Eastern Illinois University. After having two sons, Mitchell and Jackson, with a third child on the way, a daughter, Kate, I decided to work closer to home. I took a job as a fourth grade teacher in Hillsboro, the town that we live in. I continued my teaching career by moving to the Junior High School in Hillsboro to try my hand at teaching sixth grade social studies and coaching volleyball.
Moving to administration is a privilege that I don’t take lightly. I love being able to work with teachers and share my love of education and kids with others. I am humbled and honored to lead North Elementary School here in Taylorville, where I have the opportunity to share in the incredible things that Taylorville school district, its community, and the incredible staff that work at North are up to! I love having the opportunity to add to the outstanding atmosphere present at North, while supporting the staff and students as we all work together to take on the very important task of education. Thank you for the opportunity to serve in this way!
